Preparing Your Swimming Pool for Your Scheduled Winterization Service

  • Before We Arrive:

    • Vacuum the pool and remove all leaves or debris.

    • Shock the pool with 2 lbs. of chlorine per 10,000 gallons at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.

Please Leave Out the Following Items:

    • Winter Plugs

    • Gizzmos (for inground pools)

    • Skimmer Door Cover

    • Air Pillows (for above ground pools)

    • Winter Cover

⚠️ If the winter cover is not left out, a $185 return trip fee will apply, and the closing will be rescheduled for the next available opening.

    After Closing is Completed:

    • Turn off the main breaker.

    Equipment Care Reminder:
Cleaning your swimming pool equipment—cartridge elements, D.E. grids, and salt generator cells—before closing will help maintain performance and extend equipment lifespan.

    Above Ground Pools

    • Drop-in steps must be removed before our arrival.

    • Lower the water level ahead of time.

    • Radiant pools must be lowered 18” from the coping. Radiant Cover Instructions

    Inground Pools

    • Fiberglass, non-Snyder Pool, and gunite/concrete pools must be lowered below the skimmer before we arrive.

During the Winter Months:

Customers with tarp covers (Inground and Above Ground Pool):

Water should be siphoned back under the cover during the fall and spring months to minimize the weight on the cover. Failure to do so may compromise the integrity of the cover and pool structure. If you need assistance, sign up for our off-season water and leaf removal service.

Customers with safety covers:

We recommend that E-Z CLOR Algaecide be poured through the “Kem Cap” or under the cover in late fall, and again in early spring before your swimming pool opening. This will help prevent algae growth while being winterized.

Above Ground Pool owners with Resin, Steel, and Aluminum pool structures:

New England snow loads can wreak havoc due to heavy snow and the expansion of ice, causing shifting. Winter damage caused by heavy snow and ice shifting is considered an act of nature and is not covered under any warranty. To help prevent damage to the swimming pool, remove all snow or excess water on the winter cover while the swimming pool is winterized.

Radiant Branded Covers:

THE POOL COVER IS TO LAY ON THE WATER IN THE POOL AT ALL TIMES. DO NOT DRAIN YOUR POOL LOWER THAN 18" FROM THE COPING. If your pool loses water during the season, this will cause stress on the seam of the winter cover. This is not a warranty claim.

Due to the woven characteristics and the sewn seams of this pool cover, water will seep from the pool onto the top of the cover. During the opening of your pool, whatever means of suction used to remove the water from the cover should not be resting on or pointed towards the cover. This will reduce the pool water being sucked through the cover. Radiant Cover Instructions
